What this workshop is
This workshop is dedicated to the manual construction of a bellows photographic camera, based on the fundamental principles of the camera obscura and the optical camera.
The work consists of building a small large-format camera in wood, including the focusing system, the bellows and the corresponding plate holder for glass plates, film or photographic paper.
Topics covered
Operating principles of the camera obscura and the optical camera
Structure and components of a large-format camera
Construction of the wooden camera body
Construction and assembly of the bellows
Construction of plate holders for glass plates, film or photographic paper
Lens mounting and shutter system
Practice and experimentation
The cameras built during the workshop are tested using black-and-white photographic paper, allowing participants to understand the functioning of the instrument through exposure and development of the resulting negatives.
The negatives produced are subsequently printed using an enlarger, within an analogue photographic darkroom environment.

Who this workshop is for
This workshop is intended for photographers, artists and individuals interested in the technical foundations of photography and in the manual construction of photographic instruments.
Workshop format
The working pace is adapted to the level and objectives of each participant.
Methodology
The approach is essentially practical, combining manual construction, experimentation and reflection on the functioning of the photographic device.
Error and adjustment are understood as part of the process, allowing participants to understand constructional limitations and to refine technical decisions.
