What this workshop is
This workshop is dedicated to the manual application of silver gelatin photographic emulsion on non-conventional supports, exploring the relationship between image, material and surface.
The workshop approaches the process through a technical and experimental perspective, with particular attention to the preparation of supports, emulsion adhesion and image behaviour on materials such as wood, glass, metal, ceramic and textiles.

Topics covered
Production of silver gelatin photographic emulsion
Preparation and treatment of alternative supports
Application and control of emulsion on non-porous and porous surfaces
Printing images using an enlarger
Development, fixing and washing
Recurring issues and problem-solving strategies
Who this workshop is for
This workshop is intended for photographers and artists interested in historical and alternative photographic processes, as well as individuals with some prior darkroom experience or photographic practice.
Workshop format
The workshop is conducted on an individual basis or for a maximum of two participants, allowing close guidance throughout all stages of the process.
The content and working pace are adapted to the objectives of each participant, enabling conscious experimentation with different materials and approaches.
Methodology
The approach is essentially practical and experimental, supported by continuous reflection on the technical decisions taken in the laboratory.
Error is understood as an integral part of the learning process, allowing participants to understand material behaviour and to consolidate an autonomous and consistent practice.
